| Sooo... I don't know if anyone's got around to seeing this film yet, but it was released in June this year... It features Lee Hyun-woo who happens to be my favourite K-Drama actor of all time, so I knew I had to watch it xD
And actually, I was really pleasantly surprised by it~ Because of the plot, I wasn't sure if it was going to be something I'd enjoy, but the movie is soooo good! And, tears were definitely cried at the end. So badly. I was sat there, drowning in my own tears, struggling to breath. T-T
Sooo, if anyone else has seen it, what did you think of it? And if you haven't seen it, I really strongly recommend it! It's very much a comedy, the entire way through, until the very end, when it's suddenly really dramatic and depressing. u.u
But even so, definitely a must-see! Especially for Hyun-woo fans~! xD |

| How very coincidental that I just finished watching this movie yesterday! I was dying for it to be subbed and when I had the time, I immediately watched it. I definitely agree with you for this being the movie of 2013. I kind of used up my two hours of homework to just watch this but as for regrets? None. I love every bit of this movie, from the comedy and slapstick to the...(depresses me even now to think about it) sadness. Yes, I definitely bathed my face in eye sweat at the ending even though I predicted it.
One major point of this movie, for me at least, was the bromance. Maybe it's purely because I'm a sucker for male-male interaction, but the bromance between Hyunwoo and Soohyun really killed me. Hyunwoo's innocence and Soohyun's charisma (when he's not "doing his job") clashed well to flood my (kind of messed up) mind and heart with way, way too much "feels." And Kiwoong was just...just no...The happy-go-lucky guy is so much more than just that...
The plot line is quite interesting, although if politics bore you, you can zone out through those parts. The strain between North and South Korea is depicted well in the movie, as well as the distrust even between those that agreed to make amends.
If not anything, watch the movie for the flower boys if you want (I guarantee a shirtless Soohyun). You may start out for the pretty and end up flooding in your river of tears for the actual movie and its plot line. |

I definitely agree with you about the bromance. Especially in the end, the way that Rhee Hae-rang gave up everything to save Won Ryu-hwan. That really touched me, since before he acted as though he was indifferent to him. T0T I even cried during the scene where Ran was given the money to go find her child. T-T I cried pretty much the entire way through the last hour of the film xD The film, since it was a comedy through the majority, I was expecting it to have a happy ending. But nooo. ~.~ |

The film, since it was a comedy through the majority, I was expecting it to have a happy ending. But nooo. ~.~ Haerang gave himself up for the lot of them...It's sad how he didn't even hesitate about his life and just simply gave his life for them. A true comrade even though they were "frenemies" before ;-; Oh yes! The people's reactions to Ryuhwan in a suit and with nice hair were kind of hilarious, then came Ran's part and all I'm thinking is "No...You did not... T_T" Yup yup, the movie fired up all of their tearjerkers in the second half. Not enough tissues for that. I will make my next commentary with a spoiler warning, for those that didn't watch the awesomeness that is this movie yet. - Spoiler:
We were all trolled, trolled to believe that all movies have happy endings. At first, I thought Ryu-hwan was going to live and just have Haejin and Haerang die but nope. When Ryuhwan hugged Haejin and blocked the bullets with his body, I was already a mess of tears of no's. Then he launched himself off the building with Haejin, and I'm pretty sure my heart dropped down there with them.
Although, I don't think the movie would have been as impactful if all of the main characters lived. The emotional pain of our heroes dying was the highlight for the movie itself.

I shall also respond with a spoiler warning to prevent ruining the ending for those who haven't seen it xD - Spoiler:
The ending, when it showed them sitting on the roof with the mackerel, all laughing and joking, then it cut back to their bodies lying on the ground. I think that was really clever to add, I found it the most impact through the entire film, just that one little scene where it reminded you that all three of them had been so close... Even if they wouldn't admit it. And then, they even died together. I think, really, Ryu-hwan wouldn't want to live without his comrades anyway, even if he hadn't blocked the bullets and he'd survived, his life could never go back to how it used to be and knowing that was so sad. T-T
