Super Star idol group AKB48 held a handshake event on September 11th where they made the announcement of creating an overseas sister group "JKT48".

As of now there are open auditions in Indonesia, those who pass the finals in October shall become the first generation of JKT48 and will given training and lessons. JKT48 will be produced by Akimoto Yasushi as well, the group will follow in the foot steps of their older sister group and become "idols you can meet and get close to".
