| Subject: JAY CHOU CANCELS APPEARANCE, CHINA FANS RIOT AND THROW EGGS 13th September 2011, 11:15 | |
| Taiwanese prince Jay Chou was supposed to attend a brand's activity at a shop in Wuxi, China on Sept 11th, 3pm. Before he was schedueld to appear, the shop's door was crowded with tens of thousands of fans. When even Jay Chou's shadow did not appear, and Jay only did an interview via VCR (a video recording), this triggered the strong dissatisfaction of the fans at the scene. A riot occured, and fans even pelted eggs and threw bottles in protest. As the shop was filled to the brim with fans, the China police were worried for Jay Chou's safety and cancelled the event. The fans did not leave and shouted, "Cheat! Return us our goods!" Later, Jay Chou made a post via his good friend Xiao Mai's Weibo (Jay does not have his own Weibo) to try to quell the flames. He wrote in resignation, "It's a pity I couldn't meet everybody, because the police said that there were too many people and they were worried that there would be safety problems due to the crowd. I was only a wall away, I could hear the screams, but I couldn't see you." via Aiyathedidnt http://aiyatheydidnt.livejournal.com/775923.html#cutid1 |
